See your book the way a developmental editor does.
Upload your manuscript and AIuthor reads it closely: every scene, character and thread mapped, continuity errors quoted side by side, and a clear, prioritized list of what to fix before it goes to readers.
Works with your .docx manuscript. Your first read-through takes minutes, not weeks.
From draft to a full editorial read in four steps
No setup, no prompts to write. Upload the book and AIuthor does the reading.
Upload
Drop in your .docx. Add it to a series if it belongs to one.
AIuthor reads
It splits the book into chapters and scenes, summarizes each one, and finds every character and the names they go by.
You confirm the cast
A quick review: merge “Liz”, “Elizabeth” and “the Duchess” into one person. You know your characters best.
Explore
Open a full workspace of analysis, profiles, charts and reports, all linked back to the scenes they came from.
Everything an editor would tell you, with the receipts
Every finding points to the scenes and passages behind it, so you can judge it for yourself in seconds.
Know what's working and what to fix first
AIuthor assesses the whole manuscript across character consistency, voice, relationship arcs, pacing and plot structure, then pulls it together into a readiness verdict with your top priorities and your strengths.
- Findings tagged Critical, Moderate, Minor, or Positive
- A concrete suggestion with every finding
- One click to the scenes and characters involved
- Revised a section? Re-run just that dimension
Catch the eye color that changed in chapter 19
AIuthor finds the statements that can't both be true: a date that shifts, an injury that heals overnight, a rule of your magic system quietly broken, a character who knows something too early.
- Every finding quotes both passages, checked word for word against the text
- Mark each one Real, Fixed, or Not a problem, and later checks remember your call
- In a series, checks against the canon of your earlier books
- See exactly what a check will read before you run it
Your whole book, mapped scene by scene
Every scene gets a title, summary, point of view, emotional tone and cast. Every major character gets a profile: a character sheet, physical description, personality, and relationships, all built from what's actually on the page.
- A story bible that stays true to your text
- Jump from any character to every scene they appear in
- Ask questions in plain English (“when does Mara first suspect the captain?”) and get answers with sources
Find the sag in the middle before your readers do
See how your book balances description, character, relationships, plot and world-building, scene by scene. AIuthor flags slow stretches, monotone runs, and long gaps where your key relationships go quiet.
- Interactive pacing and character-presence charts
- A reading journal: a first reader's reactions, chapter by chapter
- Every flagged stretch links to the scenes involved
Then polish it and get it ready to sell
When the story is right, AIuthor helps with the sentences and the launch.
Line edit
A style pass that flags filter words, telling instead of showing, clichés, weak verbs and pacing at the sentence level.
Proofread
Spelling, grammar and punctuation corrections as a clear edit list you can work through, and fold your readers' typo reports into the same list.
Publishing kit
Draft your blurb, tagline and logline, and get keyword and category suggestions for your store listing.
A proofreader that reads your book, not just your words
We ran two full novels through AIuthor Proofread and through Microsoft Word's spelling and grammar check.
| Word's spelling & grammar check | AIuthor Proofread | |
|---|---|---|
| Right word, wrong place | Can't see “than” typed as “that”, “past” as “passed” or “clinched” for “clenched”: they're all real words. | Reads the sentence, so it catches the mistakes a dictionary can't. |
| Your names and invented words | Flagged “Mombi” 99 times and “Jinjur” 46. | Learns your cast, places and invented terms before it starts. |
| Your characters' voices | Flags dialect and period words: “walkin’”, “’em”, “hansom”. | Leaves dialogue in your characters' voices. |
| Grammar | Applies fixed rules, like “add a comma after So”, that fiction routinely breaks. | Follows your book's own conventions and fixes what's actually wrong. |
| Consistency | Checks one sentence at a time. | Checks every page against your book's style sheet: names, capitals, hyphens and terms. It caught “Silver Pills” in a book that everywhere else calls them “Wishing Pills”. |
| Colour or color? | Let “grey” and “travelled” through in an American-spelled book. | Detects which spelling your book uses and makes every word match. |
| Your time | About 1,070 clicks to dismiss the false alarms in two books. | 5 clicks. Every change is a tracked change in your own .docx, with a reason, and you can accept or reject a whole category at once. |
Tested in October 2026 on two manuscripts from our demo library, The Marvelous Land of Oz and The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes (137,000 words), against Word for Microsoft 365 with its default English (US) settings. Word is still the right tool for catching typos as you type; AIuthor is the proofread before you publish. Microsoft Word is a trademark of Microsoft Corporation.
Built for authors who write in series
Group your books into a series and AIuthor keeps the whole saga straight: shared characters across books, series-wide reports, and continuity checks against everything you've already published.
Bring in your KDP sales reports too, and see the numbers that matter for a series.
- Read-through: how many readers carry on from book one to book two, and beyond
- What one reader of your first book is worth across the series
- Kindle Unlimited page-read payout rates, month by month
- Connect Claude or another AI assistant to ask questions of your own sales data
Coming soon: new languages, new listeners
Two ways to take your book to more readers, built on the same close reading of your story.
Your series in another language, consistent from book one
AIuthor translates your whole book with the entire story in view, then checks the translation against your original for meaning, not just for how smoothly it reads.
- A translation kit built from your book: names, invented terms, each character's pronouns, and who speaks formally or familiarly to whom, kept the same across the series
- Every scene drafted with the whole book in view, then polished with your original alongside
- Two independent reviewers from different AI model families check every scene for meaning, and anything they flag is repaired
- A translated .docx with your italics and scene breaks, a quality report, and a review copy with notes for a native reader
- German first, with Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese and Dutch to follow
An audiobook with a voice for every character
AIuthor already knows who is speaking in every scene. Full-cast audio gives your narrator and each character a voice of their own and turns your book into finished chapter audio.
- Every line of dialogue matched to its speaker, reading the whole chapter, with any doubtful line flagged for you to check
- Your words, exactly as written: dialogue and narration are read verbatim
- Choose a voice for the narrator and each character; first-person books can be narrated in the viewpoint character's voice
- Automatic checks for silences, clipping and rushed or dragging lines, so you listen to the exceptions, not thousands of clips
- Chapter files in MP3 or M4B, leveled to audiobook loudness targets, or an Adobe Audition session for your own edit
Stores have their own rules for AI content: KDP asks you to disclose AI translations, and ACX currently accepts only human narration. AIuthor's translation export includes the disclosure note for you.
You stay the author
AIuthor reads and reports. Every decision about your book is still yours.
It reads, it doesn't rewrite
AIuthor gives you notes, not a new draft. Your voice and your words stay exactly as you wrote them.
Evidence, not opinions
Findings cite the scenes and quote the passages behind them, so you can check any note in seconds and dismiss the ones you disagree with.
Private to your account
Your manuscripts and sales data are visible only to you. Nothing is shared with other authors or published anywhere.
Questions
What kind of books is AIuthor for?
Fiction: novels and novellas in any genre, standalone or in a series. AIuthor is built around scenes, characters and story threads, so it's at its best with narrative fiction.
What file format do I upload?
A Word document (.docx). Use your normal chapter headings and AIuthor will find the chapters and scenes.
How long does it take?
Reading the scenes usually takes several minutes, depending on the length of the book, and a progress meter shows each step as it goes. After that, AIuthor pauses for you to confirm the cast, then finishes the deep analysis.
Will AIuthor write or change my book?
No. AIuthor never edits your manuscript. It gives you analysis, notes and suggested corrections, and you decide what to change in your own copy.
Does it replace a human editor?
It's an excellent first reader and a tireless continuity checker, and it makes your time with a human editor go further, because the obvious problems are already fixed when they see it.
How much does it cost?
[Pricing to be confirmed before launch.]
